Inspiration: Woven Bead Bracelets

Have you ever tried bead weaving? I've noticed some beautiful bracelets this spring that are making me consider trying a bead loom and giving it a go. I'll be honest though, I'm a bit daunted by the idea of following pattern (maybe that's why I'm such a horrible knitter!), so it might be a while before I try this craft myself. But if you've tried, please share your wisdom while the rest of us are in awe of the patient handiwork.

I'm not so great with following patterns either but I'd like to give it a shot anyway! My main concern is finding a bead loom!

  3. I love beadweaving, on loom or off. My suggestion would be when you are first learning to skip the pattern. Buy a bead mix in some colors you like - an ocean mix or a berry mix - and just pull random beads. That way you can concentrate on the weaving process rather than the pattern.

  4. If you don't want to follow a pattern you can start with some simple designs that just use one type of bead (great if you have some beads with a facet, lustre or silver lining) or try something like stripes or blocks of colour. Some designs are just a very simple repeating pattern so once you've woven the first repeat you just keep following what you've already done (rather than have to refer to a design on paper).
