DIY Duct Tape Clutch

If you'll allow me to have a moment, I have to say this is DIY is such a pleasant surprise! It isn't easy taking inexpensive materials and making them look luxe, but the DIY gods aligned for this project to do just that, and I'm so excited to share it with you. Using Scotch® Color & Pattern Duct Tape, the tape's texture perfectly complements the “Pretty Snakey” pattern, while the hot pink adds such a fun surprise when you open the clutch. One other great feature? You can finish it in less time than it takes to watch your favorite show!

Tools and materials:
Poster board or card stock
Scissors
Scotch® Color & Pattern Duct Tape in "Hot Pink" and "Pretty Snakey"
Craft knife

1) Begin by tracing a template for a envelope clutch onto the poster board. I freehanded mine with a ruler, making a mock up with a paper bag before tracing onto the poster board, but you can find envelope clutch templates downloadable online like this one from Melissa Esplin.  2) Cut out the clutch template and pre-fold the flaps. 3) Cover one side of the poster board with the printed duct tape. 4) Trim and fold over the overhang. 5) To add a more finished touch (plus a fun shot of color!) I lined the inside with the hot pink tape. 6) Fold over all four of the flaps, noting where they overlap, and cut a hole in each of the flaps with the craft knife. Make sure the holes line up. 7) Push the screw of the button stud through the bottom and side flaps. 8) Screw on the top of the stud. To close the clutch, fold down the top flap and push over the stud.
