Crafty Ideas for Jewelry Travel & Storage

I'm such a sucker for the magazine Real Simple. I subscribed to it years ago in college, and sheepishly referred to it as my "mom magazine," but quickly learned I wasn't alone in my adoration. Who can resist all the practical advice?

One of my favorite features is their "New Uses for Old Things"column. I was clicking through their site earlier this week, and had to share a few smart tricks that were especially perfect for two of my favorite things: jewelry and travel. With all my weekend trips this summer, I'm all about finding easy ways to transport my baubles, which I almost always overpack. A girl's gotta have options!

How do you store your jewelry for travel? I tend to pack a zippered pouch with individual pieces in small clear bags like these, but love these clever ideas.

jewelry travel tips storage

1) Store earring posts pushed into a wine cork 2) Keep earrings separated in a pill organizer or 3) in buttons. 4) Prevent chains from tangling by slipping through a plastic straw. 5) Protect delicate pieces by rolling in bubble wrap. 6) Keep track of studs by storing in the holes of a leather watch band.

  1. Cleaver ideas! I travel frequently and will definitely will try some of these. Thanks!

  2. Oh my goodness... The STRAW! Amazing!!! :)

  3. Much better than putting all together with cosmetics... i am used to do that, and it is a disaster ; )
