Apartment in Progress

A new apartment is a clean slate, fresh start, or whatever other metaphor you want to use, yet I've been in my current place half a year now (already?!), yet am still trying to get my act together when it comes to decorating it. I think it's always a good idea not to rush into decorating. It may feel painstakingly slow and frustrating to assemble a room piecemeal, but taking my time over the last few months really taught me how we use the space, and not just how I want it to look.

The result is a combination of form and function. For example, I like to slouch down on the couch with my computer in my lap, while my boyfriend always wants to prop his feet up on the coffee table. The solution? A pretty lumbar pillow for me and a footstool that won't make our living area feel cramped. This spring I'm all about finally checking off those boxes on my apartment to-do list and taking it to the next level of homeyness.

Here are some recent purchases from Target's Threshold line and DIY ideas on my list for making my little shoebox home. It's full of light neutrals and shades of my favorite, turquoise, giving my apartment a fresh update this season. For more inspiration on decorating your home for spring, check out the video at the end of the post.
