DIY Denim Round-Up

Back to school, back to schooooool... it's that time again! I had my first week of classes and I'm ready to trade in DC's humidity for crisp autumn weather. Nothing says back to school like new jeans, right? Bopping around Refinery29, I found their list of the top denim trends for this fall: coated denim, polka dots, fall florals, side stripes, and loose and tapered. Don't feel like buying into all these trends? You don't have to! Here's how to get the look with jeans you already have, from some of my favorite DIYers.

1) Coated Denim: I linked to this video tutorial from The Coveted a long time ago, and swore I was going to do it, but guess what? I didn't. I will now though!

2) Polka Dots: My girl Alyson over at The Average Girl's Guide (where I do a monthly DIY post) did her own DIYing with these awesome skinnies. No paint required!

3) Love Maegan's trick for creating faded flowers looks great on white for summer. Maybe you could try the technique using different shades that feel more appropriate for fall?
