DIY Neon Straw Clutch

If you like Thanks, I Made It on Facebook, you already caught sight of how I styled this latest DIY, inspired by neon+neutral.  Neon is still going strong this summer (no surprise there) and I think it's perfect for pairing with the summery texture of natural straw bags. I grabbed this clutch at the thrift store, and with a small bottle of neon paint (for less than $2!), I was able to give it a bright facelift. Check out how I did it.

Tools and Materials:
Straw clutch (Mine is from the thrift store. Check Ebay or Etsy or make your own using a woven placemat!)
Bright paint (I used Tulip soft fabric paint in neon pink)
Paintbrush
Tape

I first used scissors and a seam-ripper to remove the floral decals from my bag. It left a few holes, unfortunately, but we'll let the paint distract from that!

I then taped off the parts of the clutch I wanted to paint and had at it.

Voila! I paired it with my DIY neon pink rope belt and spiked pink bracelet (instructions here). I haven't been that matchy-matchy since my holographic flower clips matched my striped Xhiliration top (once a Target shopper, always a Target shopper) in 4th grade.

  15. looks like the perfect summer clutch though I really liked the original with the tulips, too! I actually think I couldn´t bring myself to remove those lovely flowers haha (but of course they wouldn´t really match the neon pink..)
