O Christmas Tree: DIY Pom-Pom Ornaments

This is the Christmas tree we cut down and put up last year in my apartment. I made pom-poms with a garbage bag full of leftover yarn given to me by a friend (thanks Jessica!) and I thought the orange and purple yarn picked up the colors in surrounding decor. You could go the pom-pom maker route to make your own similar ornaments, but I simply wound the yarn around my hand (across the palm), tied into a bundle (using a long loop of string to hang), and cut open both ends. Fluff and trim. To make smaller pom-poms, I wrapped the string around my fingers, so the bundle was narrower. I also made that mitten paper garland. I love crafting decorations, and now that it's December, let the holiDIYing being!

  1. What a great, unconventional idea! Your tree looks so festive and totally picks up the colour themes in your flat. I love it. I am going to make whit pompoms to tie to the top of the gifts I wrap this year!

  2. This is my first year living in my own house (yayyy college whooo) and so I have like... zero christmas decorations. So I DIY'd strings of grey pom poms and cut out a ton of paper snowflakes and hung them up! Its a homage to winter snow storms!
