DIY Glitter Cap Toe Flats

I hope you're not sick of glittery shoes, because like I mentioned on yesterday's inspiration post, I have a quick little DIY worthy of Tinker Bell. After I saw all the sparkle toe flats out there, I knew I had to make my own. I might just wear them with my sequined Peter Pan collar. Honest to blog, when I started TIMI, I did not have nearly as much sparkle and glitter in my life. Clearly, things are better off for it now.

Tools and Materials:
Mod Podge (I chose the gloss finish so I wouldn't loose any sparkle to matte)
Paint brush
Flats (with chopsticks to keep the shoes from rolling up)

How-to after the jump!

Try on your shoes, and make note of where you want the cap toe. Place strips of tape on the toes of each shoe to mark off where you want the cap toe to end. Smooth down as much as you can to create an even line for the glitter.

Apply a coat of Mod Podge with brush to front of toes.

Start glittering! I layered different colors of pink, silver, and purple to coordinate with my purple ballet flats.

Set aside to dry. Afterward, apply a coat of Mod Podge to seal in the glitter. Let this layer dry, and shake off any excess glitter. For good measure, add another layer of Mod Podge and let dry.

Remove the tape and trim away any loose dry Mod Podge.

I might just pirouette down the street!

  1. Cute!! Will you lose any glitter down the road (no pun intended)? Or will the mod podge hold tight?

  2. So cute!
