DIY Lace Trim Sweater

From my t-shirt/jean/sweater folding days working in retail, I've accumulated a sizable number of v-neck sweaters.  I found this Rebecca Taylor sweater (below) online, and knew the lace was the perfect way to update a ho-hum pullover into something a little more special with things I had on hand. (This DIY reminds me a lot of Geneva's over at A Pair & A Spare, for obvious reasons.) It was quick too! I saw the sweater online, grabbed the materials, popped in a DVD, and before the movie was over, I had a new top.

Tools and Materials:
Sweater
Lace
Needle and thread
Pins
Scissors

Lay out and pin your lace in place. Hand stitch from armpit, along back of neckline, and down to the other armpit.  (It feels funny repeatedly typing armpit. Is there a more delicate way of saying that?)

P.S.-- The original sweater has wider lace, and it's inset, which wouldn't be difficult to do. I just wasn't quite ready to cut up my sweater.

  1. Great job! Don't you love it when a project materializes while you're sitting around watching a movie? I've also been thinking about trying my hand at an inset lace panel, but I'm fearful and a little lazy. Anyway, your sweater turned out great!
