DIY Belt: A Simple Snake Cincher

...Can you say that 7 times fast?

This belt doesn't have to be made out of faux snake skin; I just really wanted an easy way to add something serpentine to a basic black dress without looking like a Britney Spears-boa-carrying-wannabe.
Ribbon, leather... any kind of trim would do!

Tools and materials:
2 yards of trim
Glue (You could also use a roll of fusible webbing tape and an iron. Just follow the tape's instructions, and protect the trim with a towel between the trim and iron.)
2 D-rings

Slide the rings onto the trim, fold the trim in half so the two ends meet.

Spread glue over the trim on the wrong side (inside). I used the clips to hold the two layers together and then rested heavy books on the rest of the belt. Let try overnight.

Try the belt on, and trim down the ends.

The end!

  4. I love the simplicity of this DIY! But it looks awesome - I adore the snakeskin. My preppy friends simply cannot get enough of bright ribbons - this would be the PERFECT Christmas gift for them!

  5. Adorbs! And looks so easy :)
